Abstract
As the 21st century approaches, one of the very important issue for nursing is the increased prevalence of chronic condition such as stroke. The stork is reported the highest rate of death in Korea, 1998. A stroke is always stressful for the family. Therefore, the preventive measures for stroke should be emphasized. And the health education is provided to stroke survivors and caregivers for their adjustment to the change related to stroke.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss issues in acute phase care for a stroke survivor. this case study presents a nursing process of a client, 65, female, who has middle cerebral artery infarction. The important nursing diagnoses are Self care deficit, Impaired verbal communication, altered nutrition : less than body requirements, and risk for injury et al..
The positive self-concept and motivation are focused on early rehabilitation for overcoming disability. Fortunately, the client has strong will and supportive family for rehabilitation. So, we expect this case is improving.
